How does the entire online herbal weight-loss prescription process work for someone in Busan?
Telemedicine follows five steps: ① online intake → ② 1:1 video consultation (15–20 min) → ③ personalized herbal prescription based on your constitution and condition → ④ courier delivery (usually 1–2 days) → ⑤ biweekly follow-up to check progress. During the initial visit we carefully assess Spleen Deficiency (脾虛) and Phlegm-Rheum (痰飮). Your herbs are shipped the day after the consultation. I also wondered at first whether a video visit would work, but the detailed intake questionnaire actually allows even more focused attention than some in-person visits.
Many people are now considering telemedicine herbal prescriptions for weight management. If you live in Busan, you may worry about the long distance, and if you work full-time, finding clinic hours can be hard. That is why we at Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic built our telemedicine system from the start, so you can consult at a time that suits you.
**Step 1: Online intake**
Apply through our website or Kakao Channel with basic information—height, weight, current medications, and main symptoms. Our nurse will book your appointment. Please feel comfortable sharing prior experiences such as, “I tried Wegovy or Saxenda but rebounded.” I personally remember feeling dizzy and nauseated after Western weight-loss drugs, so I deeply empathize with patients who have been through that.
**Step 2: Video consultation (15–20 minutes)**
You will speak with me directly by video. The crucial point is identifying Spleen Deficiency (脾虛). When spleen function weakens, food cannot be properly digested and absorbed; instead, metabolic residue accumulates and produces Phlegm-Rheum (痰飮). Therefore, if you also have loose stools, constipation, bloating, or fatigue, starving yourself or taking random pills can actually backfire. During the consultation I examine your tongue color and, since I cannot feel the pulse through a screen, infer its quality from tongue appearance and symptoms. I also ask detailed questions about digestion and bowel habits. Honest answers to questions like “Do you get bloated and gassy right after eating?” are very helpful.
**Step 3: Custom herbal prescription**
The prescription is finalized within one to two hours after the visit. If Spleen Deficiency is the primary pattern, we base the formula on a Spleen-tonifying decoction such as Bobi-tang (補脾湯); if Phlegm-Rheum or Blood Stasis (瘀血) is mixed in, we add herbs to aid digestion and promote Qi-Blood circulation. Every prescription is individualized; there is no one-size-fits-all formula. Because of medical advertising laws I cannot cite specific efficacy figures, but the goal is not to “force weight off” rather to help your body regulate itself. Prescriptions are given in two-week units and sent by courier, usually arriving the day after the consultation.
**Step 4: Taking the herbs and lifestyle management**
Along with the herbs you receive dietary and exercise guidance. Herbs alone are rarely enough; preventing rebound requires parallel lifestyle changes. We start simply: a glass of warm water in the morning, a protein-focused lunch, and a light dinner. Instead of extreme exercise, we recommend starting with a 20-minute daily walk. Through my own experience I have learned that drastic dieting actually damages the Spleen further.
**Step 5: Biweekly progress checks**
Even via telemedicine, interim assessments are essential. Every two weeks we reconnect by video to review weight changes, bowel movements, digestive discomfort, and fatigue levels. We fine-tune the prescription if needed, and we also discuss any anxiety you feel, such as “I don’t think I’m losing weight.” Usually, after one to two months of consistent treatment, the body begins to establish its own regulatory pattern, though results vary individually.
Finally, we absolutely never promise, “Take this and you will lose 10 kg in a month.” That would violate medical law, and frankly no such medicine exists. Korean medicine works by correcting bodily imbalance so that healthy, natural weight control can follow. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out anytime.
