Telemedicine Diet Herbal Medicine: From Prescription to Delivery — A Complete Guide

Why Is Telemedicine Growing So Fast?

Honestly, I was skeptical about telemedicine at first. Korean medicine clinics are supposed to be places where you check pulses and read faces in person.

But realistically, so many people struggle to visit a clinic regularly just for diet herbal medicine. People living in rural areas, parents with young children, frequent business travelers. When they told me "I want to take herbal medicine but I just don't have time," I kept thinking there had to be a better way.

That's how Baekrokdam's telemedicine diet consultation system got started.

How Telemedicine Diet Herbal Medicine Works

Step 1: Initial Intake Form

The core of telemedicine is the intake form. Think of it as a systematic version of everything I'd ask you during an in-person first visit.

Here's what the form covers:

  • Constitutional tendency: Heat or cold sensitivity, digestive capacity

  • Current health status: Sleep patterns, stress levels, existing medications

  • Diet history: Previous methods tried, yo-yo experiences, target weight

  • Eating patterns: Late-night eating frequency, binge tendencies, food preferences

After plenty of trial and error, this form has become quite refined. It captures nearly everything from a 30-minute in-person consultation.

Step 2: Video or Phone Consultation

After you submit the form, we conduct a video or phone consultation at your scheduled time. Since I've already analyzed your intake data, we can focus on the key issues right away.

This is where I explain the treatment direction based on your constitutional analysis. Whether you have excess dampness-phlegm (痰飲), blood stasis (瘀血), or qi deficiency (氣虛) causing a sluggish metabolism — this differentiation is the core of the prescription.

Step 3: Customized Prescription — Baekrok Gambi-jeong

After the constitutional analysis, I prescribe customized herbal medicine. Our signature formula, Baekrok Gambi-jeong (白鹿減肥丸), varies in composition by body type.

Even though it's all "diet herbal medicine," the mechanism of action differs completely from pharmaceutical drugs. While pharmaceuticals focus on appetite suppression or absorption blocking, herbal medicine works by transforming the metabolic environment itself.

  • Dampness-phlegm type: Centered on herbs that improve fluid metabolism

  • Blood stasis type: Promoting circulation and fat metabolism

  • Qi deficiency type: Formulated with qi-tonifying herbs to boost basal metabolic rate

Step 4: Delivery by Courier

Once the prescription is complete, we prepare and ship the herbal medicine by courier. It typically ships within 1-2 days of consultation, reaching anywhere in the country within 2-3 days.

The medicine comes as pills (丸劑) that don't require refrigeration, so room-temperature shipping works perfectly. The pouch packaging makes it easy to carry around too.

Follow-Up Care Continues After Prescription

We don't just send the medicine and disappear. We check in every two weeks.

  • Tracking weight change trends

  • Monitoring for side effects or discomfort

  • Dietary and exercise feedback

  • Adjusting prescriptions as needed

Even when you hit a diet plateau, you can get immediate telemedicine consultation. Just message "I've hit a plateau, what should I do?" and we'll fine-tune the prescription or identify lifestyle adjustments.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can you really diagnose my constitution through telemedicine alone?

Yes. The intake form is designed with considerable precision, and we confirm details during the video consultation. While in-person visits provide richer information, telemedicine alone is sufficient for safe and effective prescriptions.

How long does herbal medicine delivery take?

Shipped within 1-2 days after consultation, received within 2-3 days nationwide. Remote island areas may take about one extra day.

What if I experience side effects?

Contact us immediately if you feel any discomfort. We're available via KakaoTalk or phone for instant consultation, and we'll adjust the prescription if needed. Since herbal medicine is prescribed to match your constitution, serious side effects are rare, but minor adjustments are sometimes necessary.

Does telemedicine cost more than in-person visits?

The consultation fee is the same. Only shipping costs are additional — no other extra charges.

How long should I take diet herbal medicine?

It varies by individual, but typically 2-3 months is the standard cycle. We assess your response in the first month and adjust the duration based on your constitution and progress.

Who Should Consider Telemedicine?

  • Those living in rural areas or abroad

  • Parents or workers who can't easily visit a clinic

  • Those interested in diet herbal medicine but short on time

  • Those who've already had an in-person first visit and want to switch follow-ups to telemedicine

Book a telemedicine diet consultation through our KakaoTalk channel or the Baekrokdam clinic website. We'll send you the intake form link, and you can fill it out at your convenience and schedule your appointment.

I have met many patients who came after visiting multiple medical institutions and departments for persistent or recurrent conditions. Symptoms normally handled by different specialties—such as abdominal pain, headaches, palpitations, dizziness, and insomnia—may overlap in one person. Sometimes there is no clear improvement despite taking medication for each symptom, and being unwell gradually becomes part of daily life. In these cases, I look beyond individual diagnoses and examine how the symptoms connect and change together. Asking only about the most uncomfortable symptom today does not reveal the full course. I look at when the body first began to change and what happened after illness, surgery, childbirth, or starting and stopping medication. I also review changes in weight, diet, and sleep, then trace which symptoms improved with previous treatment and which remained. Test results, diagnoses, and the course of previous treatment are important for understanding the current condition. Clinical research in modern Korean medicine, physiological and pathological research in modern medicine, and observations recorded in classical Korean medicine texts offer different perspectives on the same body. Rather than fitting a patient into one perspective, I consider what each can and cannot explain and look for clues that connect symptoms and treatment histories that were previously considered separately.
