How does the clinic determine my constitution and build a diet plan?
Constitution is not established by a single pulse reading or questionnaire. Current symptoms, meals, sleep, medications, and blood pressure/weight indicators are reviewed first, and a Korean medicine examination is added to create an actionable plan.
At Baekrokdam, the diet plan proceeds not by assigning a constitutional label first, but by starting with safety and your current issues first.
- Basic information review: Weight changes, waist circumference, meal timing, sleep, activity, alcohol use, and any prior weight-loss experience are documented.
- Safety assessment: Blood pressure, cardiovascular, thyroid, and ophthalmologic conditions, pregnancy or nursing status, mental health, and current medications are checked.
- Symptoms and Korean medicine examination: Digestion, bowel movements, swelling/bloating, sensitivity to heat and cold, stress, and sleep are asked about, and Korean medicine findings such as pulse and tongue observation are referenced.
- Priority behaviors: Rather than changing all habits at once, measurable goals are set starting with the areas of greatest impact among meals, activity, and sleep.
- Prescription and follow-up: Baekrok Gambijeong is considered only when appropriate based on the consultation, and appetite, sleep, blood pressure, uncomfortable symptoms, and lifestyle adherence are tracked to decide whether to continue, adjust, or stop.
A Korean medicine constitutional assessment does not replace standard tests such as thyroid function or blood glucose. If related symptoms are present, the necessary tests should be conducted first or in parallel.
Because individual responses to any plan and prescription can vary, please do not decide based solely on an online self-check and confirm through an in-person consultation.
