Doctor, in what cases would you recommend receiving a remote prescription for weight loss herbal medicine?

I highly recommend it for busy professionals who struggle to visit a clinic. Depending on your constitution, the approach differs: those with uncontrollable cravings need prescriptions to boost metabolic rate, while those who feel dizzy or fatigued after skipping a meal require prescriptions that replenish vital energy while gradually reducing body fat.

Having experienced the dizziness of extreme fasting myself, I can tell you that simply eating less does not guarantee weight loss. In Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM), we categorize the approach based on your body's internal state. First, if you struggle with appetite control and feel heavy or lethargic, we look for 'Dam-eum' (痰飮), which refers to the accumulation of metabolic waste and fluid retention that blocks circulation. For these patients, we use prescriptions that accelerate metabolism to flush out these toxins. Conversely, some people experience a total loss of energy and digestive issues as soon as they start a diet. This is viewed as 'Bi-heo' (脾虛), or Spleen Deficiency, where the body cannot efficiently extract energy from food. In this case, supplementing vital energy while managing weight is crucial to prevent 'rebound' weight gain or side effects like hair loss. Lastly, if certain areas of the body remain stubborn despite dieting, it is often due to 'Eo-hyeol' (瘀血), or blood stasis. This refers to stagnant blood and waste clusters that hinder circulation. Clearing this stasis is the key to overcoming weight loss plateaus. The core of a successful diet is determining whether your body needs to 'push out' waste or 'fill up' energy. Even through remote consultations, we can achieve healthy weight loss by conducting a thorough medical questionnaire and fine-tuning the prescription.
