I've heard that the perilla oil diet is trending lately. How is it specifically different from general dietary management, and which one would be better for me?

The perilla oil diet focuses on consuming healthy fats to increase satiety and reduce inflammation, whereas conventional diets typically prioritize calorie restriction or reducing carbohydrates. While both have their merits, perilla oil can act as a restorative tonic for some, but may cause bloating and digestive distress for those with weak digestive capacity. The key is not which method is superior, but whether your current bodily constitution is prepared to process it.

In the past, I followed many trending diets simply because they were popular, ignoring my own bodily signals. Consequently, instead of losing weight, I felt drained and dizzy. Perilla oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are excellent for suppressing inflammation. However, from the perspective of Traditional Korean Medicine, those with 'Bi-heo' (脾虛)—a deficiency in Spleen Qi or weakened digestive function—may develop 'Dam-eum' (痰飮), an accumulation of metabolic waste and phlegm, if they suddenly increase their intake of oily foods. While you might see an initial drop in weight, you may suffer from indigestion or edema. Similarly, for those with a constitution prone to 'Eo-hyeol' (瘀血)—stagnant blood or blood stasis—it is more important to first clear the blood and improve circulation rather than prioritizing fat intake. Before blindly consuming perilla oil, you must evaluate your digestive strength and the amount of accumulated metabolic waste in your body. Whether it is healthy fats or low calories, effectiveness depends on your body's metabolic capacity. To achieve sustainable weight loss without the 'yo-yo' effect, you must understand your body's unique constitution and strategize accordingly. Please visit our clinic so we can analyze your condition and find the best approach for you.
