What is the difference between receiving only medicine remotely and visiting in person for care?
Remote care reduces travel but assesses only the information provided. In-person care can examine pulse, abdomen, and physical status, so its need should be checked for an initial or complex assessment.
Remote consultations rely on interviews and records and may be convenient when travel is difficult. Confirm current rules for prescribing, dispensing, delivery, and follow-up.
In person, pulse examination (脈診), abdominal examination (腹診), blood pressure, and physical status can be assessed. Interpretations such as spleen qi deficiency (脾虛), phlegm-fluid retention (痰飲), and blood stasis (瘀血) should not alone determine treatment.
If beginning care, taking several medicines, or having rapidly changing symptoms, ask whether an in-person visit is needed. If an adverse reaction appears during remote follow-up, consider direct care or testing.
