I've been seeing so many ads for remote weight-loss herbal medicine lately. What's the real difference between traveling all the way to Seogwipo to see the doctor in person versus just getting a prescription over the phone? Honestly, I’m feeling a bit lazy about the trip, so I’m torn.

I completely understand the desire for convenience; getting a prescription with a single phone call is certainly tempting. However, an in-person visit allows me to look beyond the data and read your 'true physical state' through pulse (Maek-jin) and tongue (Seol-jin) diagnosis. It is essentially a choice between convenience and precision. If you have a history of failed diets, I highly recommend visiting the clinic in person this time, even if it is a bit of a journey, to ensure the most accurate diagnosis.

In Traditional Korean Medicine, we utilize the Four Diagnostic Methods known as 'Mang-mun-mun-jeol' (Inspection, Listening/Smelling, Inquiry, and Palpation) to thoroughly examine the body. Remote consultations naturally rely almost entirely on 'Inquiry' (verbal communication). While a prescription can be made this way, there are clear limits to accurately identifying internal 'Phlegm-fluid' (Dam-eum) or 'Blood Stasis' (Eo-hyeol)—stubborn waste products that hinder weight loss—without seeing you in person. Particularly for those with Spleen Deficiency (Bi-heo) who suffer from poor digestion, constant bloating, and low energy, abdominal palpation (Bok-jin) is essential to check for physical tension or coldness in the core. I’ve seen many cases where a tongue diagnosis (Seol-jin) or checking the patient's complexion reveals underlying health clues that the patient wasn't even aware of. Remote services are excellent for refills or when your constitution (Che-jil) is already well-established. However, if you have struggled with repeated diet failures or side effects from Western medications, it is vital to pinpoint exactly where your 'internal stagnation' lies through a face-to-face consultation. I will make sure your trip to Seogwipo is worth the effort by finding the most effective path for your specific body type.
