There are so many different brands and types of chicken breast for dieting; which one do you recommend as a TKM doctor?

Rather than adhering to a specific brand, it is far more important to choose a preparation method that suits your digestive state. While lean protein is excellent for maintaining muscle, overconsuming it when digestive power is weak can lead to bloating and a feeling of heaviness in the body. Please first assess your own constitution and digestive capacity.

In my own experience, I once struggled with bloating and felt quite dizzy by insisting on a diet consisting solely of chicken breast. Speaking from that trial and error, a protein-centric diet certainly has its advantages: it prevents muscle loss to protect your basal metabolic rate and provides lasting satiety, which helps overcome 'false hunger.' However, there is a critical drawback. High-protein foods like chicken breast require significant energy for digestion, which can place a heavy burden on those with weakened digestive functions. In Traditional Korean Medicine, this is referred to as Spleen Deficiency (脾虛). If you consume dry, dense proteins while the Spleen function is weak, nutrients are not properly absorbed; instead, they can turn into Phlegm-Fluid (痰飮), causing the body to feel heavy and sluggish. Furthermore, for those with an accumulation of Blood Stasis (瘀血)—stagnant blood within the body—pairing proteins with light vegetables is better for promoting overall circulation than a sudden high-protein regime. Ultimately, the core issue is not which brand you choose, but whether your digestive organs are currently capable of processing that protein. Pay attention to whether your stomach feels comfortable or if you experience persistent gas after eating. The fastest route to success is adjusting your diet in accordance with your body's internal signals.
