Many people use fitness motivation photos to stay driven. From a Korean Medicine perspective, what approach do you recommend for weight loss?
Instead of looking at others' photos, identify the 'obstacles' within your own body. Motivation photos provide only temporary drive; without addressing 'Phlegm-fluid' (Dam-eum, metabolic waste) or 'Spleen Deficiency' (Bi-heo) that weakens digestion, you will soon burn out. Focusing on your body's internal balance and unique pace is the true path to getting healthy.
While visual goals can help visualize success, they often lead to self-depreciation and the danger of following extreme diets that do not suit your specific constitution. In Traditional Korean Medicine, we focus on root internal causes like 'Phlegm-fluid' (Dam-eum) and 'Spleen Deficiency' (Bi-heo). Phlegm-fluid refers to the accumulation of metabolic waste that hinders healthy circulation, making the body feel heavy and resistant to weight loss even with a low-calorie diet. Similarly, when the Spleen function is deficient (Bi-heo), the body fails to transform nutrients into energy and instead stores them as fat. Rather than looking at photos of others, prioritize understanding why your body feels swollen or lethargic. Restoring your fundamental metabolic capacity and internal circulation is a much faster and more sustainable path to success than any external 'fitspo' image.
