Q. Can I have a consultation for Traditional Korean Medicine (TKM) diet programs remotely?
Initial consultations must be conducted in person; however, follow-up visits can be done remotely. Patients who have already completed their constitutional analysis (Sasang typology) can conveniently receive prescriptions online.
📝 Detailed Answer
Many patients ask if remote consultations are available. To put it simply: follow-up visits can certainly be conducted remotely.
However, the initial visit (初診) must be in person. For a diet consultation, it is essential to perform body type assessment, abdominal palpation (Bok-jin), and constitutional analysis based on detailed questionnaires, which have limitations when done via video. Therefore, we strongly recommend an in-person visit for your first consultation.
From the second visit onwards, remote consultations proceed as follows:
- A brief questionnaire via KakaoTalk channel (recent symptoms, weight changes, etc.)
- Verification of the tongue diagnosis (舌診) via submitted photos
- Video consultation with the director (15–20 minutes)
- Customized prescription followed by immediate courier delivery
Please note that remote consultations may not be suitable for everyone. If you experience sudden weight gain, worsening edema, or dizziness, it is safer to visit the clinic in person. Such acute symptoms may require further verification through imaging or blood tests.
💡 Remote consultations are ideal for:
• Patients who have already completed their constitutional analysis during the initial visit
• Patients currently taking medication who wish to consult online
• Patients with busy schedules who cannot visit the clinic in person
