An inguinal hernia occurs when the intestines protrude through an incompletely closed opening in the abdominal wall muscles. While spontaneous healing can occur, surgery is generally recommended due to the risk of bowel incarceration (strangulation) and subsequent necrosis. After surgery, Junggi-tang is used to strengthen the abdominal wall muscles and prevent recurrence.
