I want to know why I keep gaining weight. How can I identify the cause of my obesity?

Obesity can involve sleep, stress, medications, hormones, and digestion as well as intake and exercise. Organize your food records and symptoms, then narrow down the causes through needed tests and care.

When weight keeps increasing, check sleep deprivation, stress, medications, hormones, and metabolic conditions in addition to food intake and activity. Recording when post-meal sleepiness, cold hands and feet with edema, stress-related binge eating, indigestion, and abdominal bloating occur can help the assessment.

Korean medicine may interpret reduced digestion and energy use through pi deficiency, fluid retention and heaviness through phlegm-fluid retention, and circulation discomfort through blood stasis. This classification is a clinical framework for explaining a patient’s state; it does not replace checking blood glucose or hormonal abnormalities.

Care reviews weight and waist changes, eating, sleep, activity, existing conditions, and medications together. With sudden gain, severe edema, or shortness of breath, obtain an evaluation of the cause before rushing to lose weight.
