I hear that the diet method should change with each season. How does Korean medicine approach this?
Eating, activity, sleep, and bodily responses may change with the seasons, but the basic principles of weight loss do not change completely. Check current digestion, fatigue, and edema, and adjust the plan without overdoing it.
Korean medicine may consider seasonal heat, dryness, sweating, and changes in activity together with the current constitution. For example, activity may be increased gradually in spring, hydration and excessive exercise reviewed in summer, and dryness and reduced activity considered in fall and winter.
Poor digestion and fatigue may be interpreted through pi deficiency, edema and heaviness through phlegm-fluid retention, and circulation discomfort through blood stasis. However, prescriptions or weight changes are not determined by season alone; eating, sleep, and exercise records are also considered.
Seasonal management still rests on regular meals, appropriate activity, and sufficient sleep. If heavy sweating or cold weather has reduced activity and changed how you feel, lower the intensity and readjust the plan through consultation.
