I want to start time-restricted eating. What specifically should I do?
First record your usual eating times for 3 days, then set a fasting period that you can manage without strain. Prevent inadequate fluids and nutrition, and stop and seek advice if dizziness or marked fatigue develops.
Time-restricted eating sets eating hours; it is not a requirement to starve. Before starting, record eating, sleep, and activity for about 3 days and adapt with small changes, such as reducing late snacks first.
Rather than aiming for a long fast immediately, start within a manageable range such as around 12 hours and check your fluid intake during the fast. If a long fast leads to binge eating at meals or reduced concentration at work, shorten or stop the fasting period.
Korean medicine may assess reduced digestion through pi deficiency and edema and heaviness through phlegm-fluid retention. If you take diabetes medication, are pregnant, are still growing, have an eating-related problem, or have a chronic condition, consult your treating clinician before changing meal times.
