How should I manage myself after a detox diet so that I do not regain weight?
For preventing regain, the name ‘detox diet’ matters less than eating and activity habits you can maintain after weight loss and a plan for responding to regain. Include a lifestyle plan for after the diet ends so management can continue.
The term detox alone cannot establish weight-loss or health effects. Avoid severe fasting or eating only particular foods, and practice regular meals, enough protein and fiber, and strength training from the weight-loss stage.
After weight loss ends, check your weight and waist circumference and your sleep and eating patterns at regular intervals. If you used herbal medicine or supplements, decide in advance with the prescribing clinician when to stop, how to maintain changes, and what to adjust if weight rises again.
Do not exaggerate increased bowel movements or sweating as removal of toxins from the body. Avoid methods that could cause dehydration or electrolyte disturbances.
