I have failed at dieting many times because of rebound weight gain. Is there a specific way to prevent it?
Reducing rebound requires a plan that stabilizes weight gradually rather than using abrupt restriction. Assess constitution and lifestyle, adjust eating, activity, and sleep, and monitor the 3–6 months after loss as a maintenance period.
Rebound can occur when food intake rises again or activity falls before a lifestyle rhythm capable of maintaining rapidly lost weight has taken hold. Rather than making the rate of loss too fast, preserve muscle with regular meals, sufficient protein, and strength activity.
Korean medicine may interpret insufficient digestion and energy through pi deficiency or qi deficiency, and edema and heaviness through phlegm-fluid retention. Care sets management priorities by checking not only constitutional type but also eating, sleep, stress, and medications.
For 3–6 months after loss, you can operate a maintenance phase by checking weight, waist circumference, and eating and exercise records regularly. If appetite surges, repeated binge eating, or marked fatigue occurs, consult about causes and health rather than cutting calories further.
