Lump in the Throat & Dry Cough | Incheon Globus Sensation

Hello, this is Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic. Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic is located near Jeju National University Hospital. It's located right in the adjacent building.

Today, I'd like to share my dental treatment review from last week.

I had gum treatment and wisdom tooth extraction due to gum inflammation and loose teeth. The gum treatment was performed along with dental scaling, and because it was a relatively straightforward wisdom tooth extraction (not an impacted wisdom tooth), the post-extraction pain wasn't too severe.

However, I experienced discomfort and pain for about a week after the dental treatment. Since many patients who regularly receive acupuncture treatment at Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic also visit us for TMJ pain or masticatory muscle pain after dental procedures, I wanted to share my experience.

Dental treatments often involve applying pressure inside the mouth, and prolonged periods of keeping the mouth open can place significant strain on the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

If the TMJ is overstressed, it can lead to conditions such as TMJ inflammation, TMJ disc displacement, and muscle pain around the temporomandibular joint.

Symptoms that may appear due to TMJ and surrounding muscle pain after dental treatment include:

Pain when opening the mouth

Clicking, popping, or grinding sounds from the jaw joint when opening the mouth

TMJ pain when yawning

Stiffness and pain in the muscles around the jaw

Headaches, facial pain

TMJ pain when chewing food

Ear pain, tinnitus

Neck and shoulder pain

While pain around the TMJ often improves naturally over time, active treatment may be necessary if symptoms persist or worsen.

If you experience TMJ pain or masticatory muscle pain after dental treatment, effective treatment is available at Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic through acupuncture, pharmacoacupuncture, and herbal medicine.

Acupuncture helps relax tense muscles around the TMJ and alleviates pain, while pharmacoacupuncture directly injects herbal medicine ingredients with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects to help reduce inflammation and improve pain. Additionally, herbal medicine helps improve circulation around the TMJ and boosts immunity, aiding in the recovery from TMJ disorders.

If you are experiencing discomfort due to TMJ pain or masticatory muscle pain after dental treatment, we recommend visiting Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic for a consultation.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Baeknokdam Korean Medicine Clinic at any time.

Thank you.

My Feet Are Hot! What Causes Burning Soles?

Hello, I am Choi Yeon-seung, a doctor of Korean medicine at Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic.
Today, I'd like to post about what I've learned from observing patients who suffered from lower back pain.

Lower back pain that throbs even when you stay still, a tearing pain that occurs when you change your posture or move, making it impossible to sleep properly and hindering daily life.
Those who haven't experienced it can never truly understand it.

Shall we explore the types of lower back pain and how to treat them?

1. Types of Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain can be broadly divided into two categories.

1) Muscle Pain

Lower back muscle pain often manifests as pain during specific movements when you move your back.
It occurs when muscles tense up, and a characteristic feature is that it improves quickly once the tense muscles are relaxed.

2) Disc Pain

Unlike lower back muscle pain, lower back disc pain often causes not just pain in specific movements, but also numbness and pain extending to the buttocks and legs.
This pain occurs when a disc compresses a nerve. In such cases, the treatment period is longer than for muscle pain, and if not treated properly, there is a high likelihood of it becoming chronic.

Hello, this is Korean Medicine Doctor Choi Yeon-seung from Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic. As the weather gets colder, many patients experience a drop in immunity, leading to colds, or worsening of atopic dermatitis, rhinitis, asthma, etc. Today, we will look into why one easily catches a cold in winter, or why colds last a long time once caught.

Our Body's Immunity Immunity refers to our body's power to protect itself and resist external invasion. When immunity is normal, even if a cold virus invades, one does not easily get sick, and even if one does, the symptoms are not severe and heal quickly. However, when immunity is lowered, one easily gets infected by even minor viruses, and once infected, symptoms can be severe and long-lasting.

Reasons for Decreased Immunity in Winter In winter, as temperatures drop and the indoor-outdoor temperature difference widens, our body's immunity tends to weaken. Cold air stimulates the nasal mucosa, causing inflammation and weakening the defense of the respiratory mucosa. Also, dry indoor air dries out the respiratory mucosa, making it easy for viruses to penetrate.

How to Prevent Winter Colds and Boost Immunity The following efforts are needed to prevent winter colds and boost immunity.

1. Sufficient Rest and Sleep Accumulated fatigue can lower immunity, so it is important to get sufficient rest and sleep. For adults, 7-8 hours of sleep per day is recommended.

2. Regular Exercise Regular exercise of moderate intensity helps boost immunity. However, excessive exercise can actually lower immunity, so caution is needed.

3. Nutritious Diet It is important to maintain a balanced diet, such as consuming vegetables and fruits rich in vitamins and minerals, and sufficiently supplementing protein. Vitamin C, in particular, is known to be effective in strengthening immunity.

4. Maintain Indoor Humidity Dry indoor air dries out the respiratory mucosa, making it easy for viruses to penetrate. It is advisable to maintain indoor humidity at 50-60% using a humidifier or similar.

5. Dress Warmly When body temperature drops, immunity also decreases. Dress warmly and maintain body temperature to prevent immunity from dropping.

6. Traditional Korean Medicine Good for Boosting Immunity Immunity can be strengthened by taking Traditional Korean Medicine tailored to individual constitutions and symptoms. Traditional Korean Medicine goes beyond simply treating colds; it balances the entire body and fosters its natural healing power.

Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic is doing its best to boost the immunity of its patients. If you are suffering from colds, atopic dermatitis, rhinitis, asthma, etc., please feel free to visit us anytime.

Thank you.

In today's post,
we will learn about Damjeokbyeong.
Damjeokbyeong is a condition in which `dam-eum` (non-physiological waste products) accumulates in the stomach and intestines, leading to a decline in gastrointestinal function and a hardening of the area.
Food cannot descend into the duodenum and remains in the stomach,
causing various symptoms such as vomiting, heartburn, and indigestion.
It is often mistaken for simple indigestion, and even if a gastroscopy is performed, no particular abnormalities are frequently found.
This is because `damjeok` accumulates in the outer muscular layer of the stomach and intestines.
Furthermore, lifestyle habits such as stress or overwork can also be contributing factors to Damjeokbyeong.
If Damjeokbyeong is suspected, it is important to visit Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.
Our clinic addresses the fundamental causes of Damjeokbyeong through personalized treatment.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us anytime.
Thank you.
